Initiatives to Support Active Participation of Women in the Workplace
Promoting Employment of Women
NHK Spring is engaged in recruitment activities designed to increase the ratio of female employees in career-track positions to 20% or more by fiscal 2023, and holds small groups recruiting sessions and introduce the activities of our female employees to female students.
● Trend of ratio of female college graduates hired into promotion-track full employment positions
FY2017 | FY2018 | FY2019 | FY2020 | FY2021 |
8.0% | 10.3% | 14.6% | 7.2% | 11.8% |
Increasing the Number of Female Managers
With the goal of increasing the number of female managers more than threefold from 2016 to 2020, NHK Spring has worked to cultivate female leaders through training and other means.
As a result of training and individual career development plans, we were able to more than quadruple the number of female managers by April 2020, achieving our goal. After April 2020, we will continue to focus on the development of future female manager candidates with the next goal of increasing the percentage of female managers in career-track positions by at least 10% by March 2024.
Consideration of Diverse and Flexible Work Styles
NHK Spring has been conducting diversity training for managers to raise their awareness regarding diversity of human resources.
At the same time, we have been promoting work style reform, introducing a telecommuting system in April 2021.
We will continue to work on fostering a corporate culture in which diverse work styles are accepted by both the company and employees.
Participation in Woman Act Kanagawa Prefecture Initiative
NHK Spring joined the Woman Act Kanagawa Prefecture Initiative in September 2016.
Behind this initiative are Kanagawa Prefecture and companies deeply rooted in Kanagawa that earnestly promote the active participation of women in the workplace.
We engage in activities to reform social awareness, such as sending lecturers to prefectural high schools and junior high schools through the Kanagawa Women in Sciences Encourage Program while striving to support the active participation of female employees according to the General Employer Action Plan for the Act on Promotion of Women’s Participation and Advancement in the Workplace.
The activities of this initiative deepen interactions with other member companies while introducing initiatives of each company and provide an exchange of ideas about promoting the active participation of women.

Reference Information on Continued Employment of Women
At NHK Spring, there is almost no difference in the average length of service by gender and no gender difference in the ongoing employees.
The shorter length of service for career-track employees compared to core employees (who are, generally speaking, equivalent to managers) is a result of the promotion from career-track to core employees during the career path.
In addition, there is no significant difference between the percentages male and female employees hired right after graduating from university who continue to work at the company (retention rate).

Percentage of female employees (as of end of March 2021)
Although the number of female employees at NHK Spring is less than the number of male employees at 14.9% of the total number of employees, the percentage of female employees is increasing little by little through a gradual change in a mindset of dividing roles by gender. We will continue to expand the range of positions in which women can play an active role and further strengthen the employment of women in our recruitment activities.
